Tarzan/Espadon/Beuchat (France)

Today's logo

One of the eldest brand in diving. Founded by Georges Beuchat whos has first started to sell free diving gear and underwater housing under the name of Tarzan. After a law suit with MGM for using the name "Tarzan", the manufacturer changed its name to Espadon Tarzan, then Espadon and Beuchat.

Tarzan was known to have the best wet suits and underwater housings, they were the first to manufacture an underwater housing in 1947, the Tarzan housing.

The Tarzan gear were often manucatured and sold by other brands, for instance the underwater housing "Foca-scaph" was sold by La Spirotechnique under the name of "Aquaphot Foca".

Combinaison Beuchat Marine Nationale

This type of suit was used from the mid 60's to the end of the 70's.


The logo dates the suit from 1966-69, the red patch was used to identify the gear amongs navy divers.

It is possible to date this one with the logo which is from the 1964-1966. There is a path on the suit with decompression table from the GERS 1965

jetfin

In 1964 Georges Beuchat invent the Jetfin fins, it is a major success for Tarzan aka Beuchat, it was commercialized in the States by Scubapro who bought the rights.

PARAS

This knife id from the 50's, it had the particularity to be used for setting the CG 45 on the tank valve (to do and undo the screw).


For some reason this very handy feature was not present on the latter one.
